Introduction

Company Profile

SciClone Pharmaceuticals is a profit-driven, global specialty pharmaceutical company with a substantial international business and a product portfolio of novel therapies for cancer and infectious diseases.

Internationally SciClone has built a strong commercial organization, delivering consistent, double-digit revenue growth through an expanding product portfolio. Our sales in countries like China and Russia help support SciClone's international development programs. Many of our products on the market and in development have the potential to treat multiple indications and work safely in concert with other drugs to help improve overall care.

  • Our lead product ZADAXIN (thymalfasin/thymosin alpha 1) is one of the best selling imported drugs in China today, where it is approved to treat hepatitis B. ZADAXIN has been granted Orphan Drug status in the US for malignant melanoma and SciClone has a phase 3 clinical trial planned for this indication. Thymalfasin is also in preclinical studies as an enhancer of novel H1N1 flu vaccines.
  • SciClone's other product opportunities currently include commercialization of DC Bead for liver cancer and ondansetron RapidFilm™ in China used to treat and prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery (both products pending regulatory review), phase 2 trials for SCV-07 in two indications: chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis and hepatitis C.

Business Strategy

In addition to improving patients' lives around the world, SciClone is committed to generating value for its investors by growing worldwide revenues, achieving sustainable profitability and maintaining a solid financial position. We plan to drive this value-focused objective by rapidly expanding our presence in key geographies by –in-licensing new products to market. Leveraging the strong organizational structure and commercial expertise we have built in China, we have strategically positioned SciClone as an ideal partner for introducing promising therapies to that region.
